5 weeks 6 days
Finally seems the cold wave that had swept over Florida and, at times to have an end or at least to spare us for a while. Why do we have as tortured by the hot summer, when we freeze it now and take our baby in warm sweaters, wool hats and gloves have to do?
The weekend has certainly shown us again and compensation, looks like the perfect winter weather here. And of course we took advantage of it.
On Saturday morning we had to leave early because my first 5-km run without Niklas was in order. Since May, he accompanied me at every race, this time he was the first time "only" audience. Jon himself was not following along and has agreed to take care of the baby while I wanted to see where I stand after 3-4 weeks of running and despite what so far only very short distances and not even 6 weeks preceding birth, shall pass.
In perfect running weather, 11 degrees, overcast and virtually no wind, I gave my best. It was hard, it was exhausting, 5 km before I came very far, and it was total class! How wonderful to no longer be pregnant and just start walking without a big belly to.
The first two miles I was also equally wonderful, each with 7:30 / mile (4:39 / km), in the third gave the condition but then not quite. I had been expecting it and a plan in mind, so I'm not desperate, but slowed my pace just to the extent necessary to force a properly long sprint, in which I was able to collect on the last meters of a gentleman to me. With the result of 23:37 (4:43 / km, a second faster than my pace in Boston) I'm satisfied in any case, but I had expected something around 25 minutes. I still won in my age group was definitely a nice reward for the effort.
So I now feel fit and ready to start again with the training. In the next 12 weeks I will prepare a 10-mile beginner plan to running series in the Palatinate , which also includes re-speed work, tempo runs and hill training.
After the award ceremony, we had to leave fairly quickly, because at noon we wanted to meet with Stephanie at the horses. Next weekend brings Jon Brownie in his home in Tennessee (that is, he meets with people on half of the trail in Georgia) and so now was the last chance came with Brownie to drive again in a beautiful natural park and taking a long ride. Meanwhile
had warmed up nicely and we had fun on a brisk ride on Lake Lizzie Trail.
My men stayed at home for once.

On Sunday morning we were woken up by bright sunshine and then I took Jon's presence and shamelessly left him with Niklas at home. Since a while I had laughed at my road bike in the garage, but the week is a bit difficult with the baby. Now it was finally over. I had to replace the wheel and inflate the tires before I went in about 23 km long one-hour tour. I had almost forgotten how much fun riding a racing bike and does not know how much I had missed it.
After so many had to go it alone and finally my boys have their rights. Jon was roused from my run and decided this time to let the long run turn out in favor of 800-m intervals. While he was sweating in the midday heat, I went to Niklas walk in the stroller and fired to Jon when I met him.
alternately with Niklas in a sling and Daddys stomach lying in the afternoon, we were able to open our doors "living room outside," the Florida room use. Niklas like the rocking of course good and I have both hands free for other things. Rounding
the weekend was for a small family beach trip. All together we drove to Cocoa Beach Pier, the first time for Niklas and played tourists. Long as we are not finally here, because we must take advantage of the proximity to the sea!
