TG 145, Riffprojekt: artificial reef Eckernförde, 12.07.2007 Today we had probably to have a unique opportunity, a reef in the Baltic Seas.
Outside the Mole Eckernförde (marina) we are sunk (diving guerrilla Schleswig-Holstein) for about 50 large concrete rings from faulty production, some large flower pots and concrete structure that is seen otherwise find in pedestrian zones and a few monster large concrete-wall parts.
We had about 6 hours to allow a floating pontoon with the company Züplin excavators available to the sinking. The main work of Ludwig Bach Huber and Mark Pinkowski were doing as a helmet diving
Now the artificial reef is about 7 m depth, and we are all curious how it will be adopted by the animals. It was
the rest then a nice TG to visit what we had built. We were rewarded with very good sight!
The reef is found by the way, if you also emerged from the right corner of the pier on exact 120 degrees! It is not far away and very easy to find!
is at all the dive site Eckernförde pier, or piling Eckernförde been significantly upgraded through the redesign:
The sheet piling has been renewed over and under water, on the right corner of the molecule so the boarding large quantities were placed boulders, the very are covered well and lively.
The new sheet pile wall is intentionally open to very many places to a water exchange to allow the marina area. (Odor problem should thus be improved). This means for us divers, of course, that a dip in and out is now easily possible. Beautiful!
big disadvantage of the construction work is that it can not be overlooked by the various damage section:
The hydraulic pillar of the pontoon are working on the base several "bomb crater" created. Whether this is good or bad for the fauna and flora, I can not judge. Furthermore
is still several metal scrap, such as large pieces of cut Spuntwand, flex plates, etc. on the ground around. This should be better still a be!
Conclusion: The site Eckernförde / moles has clearly improved again, for my taste! Of course, to the sheet piling and the new reef is still missing the green cover. But that we can quickly adapt, for me, no question.
the way, soon there will possibly be even a UW-webcam ... (if that should be is another question!)
