Dan on 11/09/2007 in Bungersthof in Königswinter-Oberdollendorf

When Dan are close, then I have to go, even if I had really no time. From this combination of Joergen W. Lang with his tuned to DADGAD guitar, his low whistle, and his vocal chords and this time with one (or, as I learned recently, as the Greek word is neuter) Bouzouki, Franziska Urton with their Fiddle and John Mayr with his accordion and the big bass I'm always so blown away, everything I need to write not really, it sounds more like an advertisement, as such a review. But should I pull for the criticism from the nose, but just when I'm just thrilled? Perhaps we should write the recurrence Petra, for her, the music of Dan (in part) to melancholy. But that is what I love so much, that depth, this breadth, this longing, so appropriate to secluded shores, meadows, marshes, as they are so typical of Ireland and Scotland. And yet the music of Dan is anything but stereotypical arrested, no, she thrives on originality in the arrangement and her repertoire is not one that one of the many other Irish folk band knows. Sure, there are so well-known pieces of it, but just somewhere excavated or even write yourself or there are influences from continental Europe Balfolk and drone-folk music, or generally available. And then there are the arrangements that contain so many subtleties that I discover in part until the third or fourth listen to a piece, for example, two melodies simultaneously running against each other, and wherein once the flute, the one and fiddle and accordion, the other play and then take turns, notably in "Hares on the Mountain," in which only the actual melody still played on "How beautiful are the May flowers." New at this concert was an even greater use of vocal harmonies and lots by John Frank, and that nearly unplugged was played and sung. Only Joergens guitar was plugged in, otherwise everything was purely acoustically. And new is that Joergen now lives in Alsace as a tenant of none other than Rudiger Oppermann. Well, that kind of landlord certainly expect a lot of inspiration, their fruits you will in future concerts and CDs to listen. It will be interesting.

pity that not too much audience was there. The guest room was halved in his version though well cast, but only in the halved. But on the other hand, it was still comfortable and the only way os the unamplified concert possible. The familial character of the concert, but - as has been brought to me - did not all equally good. On our next table was gemosert: Yes We are here on a family reunion? Why do we pay for admission? "Which, according to a friend who was with us there, it was that the musicians, the concert started not on time and dragged the break with a friendly conversation for too long. The missing have had over the audience with a professional attention. Well, that was not me on that, but I was asked to give to the next, and do it. Who can already do all right? The same friend also said that she had particularly enjoyed the harmonious interplay of Frank and John. It should be seen but even if musicians are on stage together to understand so well. Jou, dat is et. Moreover

was told that Dan did not pronounce "Dan", but "Don", ie with such an open o, as in the Swedish a with a squiggle over it. Ha, that was then in the circus tent is not the North German Slang by Jen Come on Nick, but it was the correct pronunciation.
